Cleantechnica tells us that the world’s largest solar bridge is being built in London, England.  Blackfriars station is to become the world’s largest solar bridge with over 4400 rooftop solar photovoltaic panels.  This will be the largest solar array in London.

The Victorian rail bridge built in the age of steam in 1886  is being updated with 21st century solar technology to create an iconic station for the City London. Blackfriars station, also known as London Blackfriars, is a central London railway terminus and London Underground complex.

The solar panels will generate an estimated 900,000 kWh of electricity every year, providing 50% of the station’s energy. Other energy saving measures at the new station will include rain harvesting systems and sun pipes for natural lighting.
