A tour which looks at the Hogdalen Heat and Power waste to energy facility in Stockholm, Sweden.  The plant produces 1700 GWh of heat and 450 GWh of electricity each year using 700,00o tons of municipal and industrial waste. The plant comprises two blocks, one for household waste, and one industrial waste and supplies the southern district heating network via 800 km of pipes, containing 42,000 cubic metres of hot water. The facility features four grate fired boilers with a total of 171 MW for household waste, while the industrial waste is dealt with using a 92 MW circulating fluidised bed.  A range of flue gas scrubbing equipment is also installed at the plant, and metals from the bottom ash are sent for recycling.
