The Growth of Solar PV: 2000 – 2014

Growth of Solar PVThis chart shows how predictions regarding the expected growth of photovoltaic (PV) solar by the International Energy Agency (IEA) have substantially underestimated its actual growth.  As of 2014 there were 180 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar capacity in the world. In 2007 the IEA predicted this figure would only be 20 GW. (1 GW is the electricity production of a typical nuclear power plant.)
